Art expands our horizons and builds social bonds. It provides us with comfort and pleasure, while also challenging us to see the world in new ways. Hence, we at DPSIS strongly believe that the academic education, complemented with the expressive discipline of Arts & Crafts, play a major role in shaping the overall personality of our students

To highlight this strong belief, a weeklong celebration of Creativity was held at DPSIS starting 13th January, 2009. Various activities and competitions were organized across the spectrum of classes to reinforce the importance of Arts & Crafts and generate a greater appreciation towards it. These events provided the dipsites an opportunity to unleash their creativity and showcase their inherent talents.

A plethora of activities were meticulously planned and conducted by our well qualified and experienced art teachers, Ms Meher Verghese & Ms. Yasmin Sirraj. To start with, a Quilt making activity, focusing on team building was conducted for the students of Classes I to XI, for each of the four houses. The young dipsites were able to exhibit their drawing and painting talents on a piece of cloth, which werethen stitched together to form a colorful tapestry. The creativity and the imagination of these young minds reflected upon this artistic masterpiece which presently forms the backdrop of the stage in our school. It is sure to be a proud moment for the Dipsites to see their bit of creation on display. Painting activities such as face painting, stain glass painting and still life drawing were conducted for students at various levels. The vibrant and lively colors along with the creative designs used, demonstrated the enchantingly magical world of our budding young minds, ready to explore the artist within themselves.

To instill a healthy competitive spirit among the students, coloring & painting, clay modeling and Chinese lantern making competitions were also held at various levels. A recycling competition was also held to spread the awareness of saving our environment. It was indeed a fascinating and an awesome sight to see our students compete with each other in a fun-filled atmosphere.Their unlimited and striking creative ideas left one and all, spell bound!

These weeklong activities at our school celebrated creativity, spontaneity and encouraged experimenting among our students. It fostered the belief of self-expression in a positive open environment and helped improve the motor skills, problem-solving and enhanced creative thinking. The results of the week reflected the diverse and imaginative world of our art loving students and taught them as to how beauty is born and how artists create masterpieces.

Art with passion & creativity!
