The 60th Republic day was celebrated with fervour at DPSIS. The programmes organised on this occasion, kindled the patriotic feelings within.

The celebration began with hoisting of the tricolour flag followed by the national anthem. Speech on Significance of Republic day by Siddharth Srinivasan and Suranjana Sengupta of class IX encouraged the young minds to value freedom. Patriotic songs by our choir added patriotic flavour to the occasion. The enthusiastic participation of our staff and students stood testimony to the love for our nation. The events of the day concluded with exchange of greetings.

Republic day at the Indian High Commission was celebrated with great zest and gaiety. The huge turn out of people reflected the patriotic sentiments of the Indian Diaspora in Singapore. A slight pour of drizzle throughout the programme in no way dampened the spirit of the occasion.

The Indian flag was unfurled by the Indian High Commissioner, H.E. Dr. S. Jaishankar. The tricolour flag fluttered with light breeze arising a sense of belonging to one's nation even when one is far away from home.

A host of cultural programmes by way of songs, dances and poetry rendition were presented by various Indian schools in Singapore. It was indeed a treat to watch school children perform invoking patriotic fervour in one and all.

Our school choir guided ably by our music teachers gave a fitting finale to the show. The choir enthralled the audience with their rendition of songs so much that it prompted members from the crowd to ask for a "Once more".

Kudos to our music teachers who brought out the spirit. Jai Hind !!!

Shri Hanuman Chalisa

Blessed Self,

Hari Om!

Remembering you and sending my best wishes for the remaining part of the year.

In two decades of traveling round the world and conducting various sessions on Vedanta, I have found that the maximum impact, inspiration and transformation in most was created by the discourses on Shri Hanuman Chalisa. By Gurudev's grace and Guruji's constant inspiration we will be concluding 100 such discourses or Gyana Yagna's in February in Mumbai.

To express everyone's gratitude, to spread the glory of our Hanuman and to further benefit our lives, we are arranging a grand havan with 108 havan kundas on 15th February from 7am to 7pm. As we make offerings to the sacrificial fire thousands will chant Hanuman Chalisa 108 times. This event, named 'Chant Mumbai, Shant Mumbai' will bring a large number of people together to express our solidarity towards the many difficult and challenging situations that have risen in the past year.

We have all experienced the miracle and power of chanting Shri Hanuman Chalisa in our lives. Now is the chance to experience its impact on the world and in our lives, as thousands of us chant together.

I invite you to attend this maha havan which will benefit many as well as you and your dear ones, or be a part of it by being a yajman, by sending your sponsorship.

If you are unable to attend, then you can chant Shri Hanuman Chalisa at home or as a group on 15th February. Make as many as you know aware of this program to add to the global chanting.

You can also watch the promo of the event on youtube link: http://in.youtube.com/watch?v=8wAedV8ukKw and pass it on to others as well.

You can register ONLINE at www.hanumanhavan.com or contact 93201 14646 or Chinmaya Mission Mumbai – 22814646/22884646 or Email Br.Sattvika: brsattvika@gmail.com

I invoke Hanumanji's blessings for you and your family. May He fulfill your goals and give you in abundance always.

Love,

At His Feet,
Swaroopananda

DAZZLING KINDER CONCERT BRINGS THE MAGIC BACK

.

To commemorate Children's day on the 14th of November '08, the Kindergarten of DPS mounted their usual spectacular concert, a fun-filled family evening. It was an event that brought happy and smiling faces in view. Proud parents and teachers alike could be seen spellbound throughout the plethora of performances.
The preparations for the day were as enriching as the event itself. The zeal to put up an entertaining show infused a lot of excitement and enthusiasm in all the management, teachers and specially our little angels. The dedicated team took up the task as a challenge and embarked on a journey filled with fun, frolic and learning with a surge of confidence. During the training and preparation for the concert, the children were not only taught the intricacies of singing and dancing but also the importance of communication and coordination. Along the way, our young and budding Dipsites slowly gained self-confidence and learnt how to work together with their peers. The result of this great environment was that the children got into the habit, to love learning and this skill will help them tremendously as they progress with their education.
On the day itself, as the concert unfolded, there was a sense of satisfaction and fulfillment in the hearts of the whole team as their vision was being enacted to perfection by our kindergartners. When the children took the center stage, it was a grand treat to watch all our tiny tots dancing in coordination with each other to the feet-tapping tunes of songs and rhymes. The little actors and dancers dressed as fairies, ants, butterflies, sailors and many other fancy elaborate attires, showed that there was confidence in the breezy winds.
The performances brought about a surge of excitement with a tad of fun and frolic as the audience fell in love with them over and over again. Love and affection towards the adorable and innocent children was in the air. Modern harmonies, rhythms, colours and movements involved everybody and ensured that no one was left out of the fun.
The concert finale culminated in a crescendo of singing with all of the Kindergarten Teachers joining together to perform the well known DPS song "We are voices from the DPS" and the "National Anthem". The entire audience joined in with the cast filling the hall with their own voices and at the end, gave a lengthy round of applause of thankfulness and admiration.
It was indeed a great event, which highlighted the creative spirit of one and all. Finally, a word of appreciation for all the parents without whose support and cooperation this event would not have been made possible.
