The 60th Republic day was celebrated with fervour at DPSIS. The programmes organised on this occasion, kindled the patriotic feelings within.

The celebration began with hoisting of the tricolour flag followed by the national anthem. Speech on Significance of Republic day by Siddharth Srinivasan and Suranjana Sengupta of class IX encouraged the young minds to value freedom. Patriotic songs by our choir added patriotic flavour to the occasion. The enthusiastic participation of our staff and students stood testimony to the love for our nation. The events of the day concluded with exchange of greetings.

Republic day at the Indian High Commission was celebrated with great zest and gaiety. The huge turn out of people reflected the patriotic sentiments of the Indian Diaspora in Singapore. A slight pour of drizzle throughout the programme in no way dampened the spirit of the occasion.

The Indian flag was unfurled by the Indian High Commissioner, H.E. Dr. S. Jaishankar. The tricolour flag fluttered with light breeze arising a sense of belonging to one's nation even when one is far away from home.

A host of cultural programmes by way of songs, dances and poetry rendition were presented by various Indian schools in Singapore. It was indeed a treat to watch school children perform invoking patriotic fervour in one and all.

Our school choir guided ably by our music teachers gave a fitting finale to the show. The choir enthralled the audience with their rendition of songs so much that it prompted members from the crowd to ask for a "Once more".

Kudos to our music teachers who brought out the spirit. Jai Hind !!!
